Japan Quakes Spin the Yen
The overnight massive earthquakes in Japan sent the Yen on a wild ride as news was coming out of Japan detailing the devastation there.
The USD/JPY in particular swung by over 200 pips throughout the day. The Yen tried to gain strength against most other currencies ending up mostly unchanged over the day.
It will be interesting to see how the markets react by the time they open on Sunday. There is so much uncertainty about everything happening in Japan and how things there will affect things everywhere else.
In the meantime, I would recommend caution to anyone feeling adventurous right now. There is so much going on right now, including uprisings in the middle east, mumblings about the death of the dollar, and now the devastating earth quake in Japan. It might be a good time to play it safe for a few days.
Be careful out there.
